Artworks by Eric L Hansen

Fusion is a meld of oriental and occidental aesthetics using lens-based materials fused over painting. The final pieces are made with a dye-transfer on metal. It is strongly influenced by the early 19th century Ukiyo-e printmakers, particularly Hiroshige and Hokusai. But it is still conceptually Western. So it’s a true child of globalization. Each piece is signed with the artist’s Chinese name, Han Sen.  The series just won first in the 7th Edition of the Pollux Worldwide Photography Gala Awards. This May , it took the Juror’s Choice Award at the Arc Gallery show in San Francisco. And in 2014, it won a silver medal in the Prix de la Photographie, Paris 2014, Paris, France.

Hansen earned a BFA degree from Newark College of the arts, where he double-majored in theater and creative writing. Today he lives and works in East Nashville, with the poet Stellasue Lee and their two cats, Tennyson and Caylie.
